Student Career Advocates (SCA’s) assist in the daily operations of the Center for Career & Professional Development.
SCA’s connect with fellow students to help them grow professionally.
SCA’s lead presentations, meet with students, edit documents such as resumes and cover letters, interact with employers looking to hire SFA students and more.
Job Duties
1.
Provides office assistance to the department by completing routine clerical duties and responsibilities
2.
Corresponds to various internal and external inquires by managing emails, multiple-line phone system, and in-person requests.
3.
Provide clear and effective customer service and communication with a variety of audiences
4.
Assists in the preparation, marketing and implementation of departmental programs and activities including special events, workshops, resource tables, presentations, Career Closet, and other activities as needed
5.
Receive training on and complete professional document critiques and edits through online submissions and in-person appointments
6.
Manage Handshake, an online career platform, for student, employer and departmental accounts
7.
Help coordinate, prepare and execute career fairs
8.
Lead presentations on student professional development
9.
Work in a team environment to accomplish departmental goals and expectations
10.
Complete required trainings as assigned
11.
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F.
Austin State University.

Physical Demands Special Conditions for Eligibility
A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters.
To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
