Plans, coordinates, and supervises the operations of the City's aquatic facility; oversees the delivery of aquatic services to patrons; supervises and coordinates various types of swimming activities; interacts with the public and provides customer service to patrons; performs lifeguard duties; oversees and participates in maintaining pool facilities; prepares and maintains a variety of facility records and documentation; and supervises assigned personnel.
Examples of Duties
Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the facility including aquatics programming, service delivery, and facility maintenance.
Monitors and ensures the City's swimming pool facilities are safely and properly maintained for use and enjoyment by the public.
Supervises, trains, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; monitors and ensures staff compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Prepares employee work schedules; monitors and ensures appropriate staff coverage; maintains the availability of pool facilities to the public during scheduled hours of operation.
Responds to public inquiries regarding aquatic services and facility operations; explains and enforces facility rules and regulations.
Serves as Lifeguard; supervises the activities of swimmers; responds to emergency situations; administers First Aid and/or CPR to include use of an AED as required.
Supervises and participates in the cleaning and maintenance of pool facilities; monitors the condition of the pool and related facilities; checks pool chemical levels.
Cleans and sanitizes locker rooms, restrooms, and other pool areas; sweeps swimming pool; picks up and disposes of trash; maintains plants.
Coordinates the purchasing of pool/facility supplies; monitors and maintains supply inventories.
Prepares and maintains a variety of facility records, reports, and documentation.
Attends and participates in in-service training and/or other types of meetings.
Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent, and two years experience overseeing municipal swimming pool operations, including one year supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Training and First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications issued by the American Red Cross are required.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Work is performed in and around municipal swimming pool facilities.
Subject to sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, crawling, swimming, and lifting of objects up to 40 pounds.
Exposure to water, pool chemicals, cleaning agents, infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens, and bodily fluids is involved.
